Role
The student's role is to be a history analyst on one of many of CBS's radio station once a week.

CBS wants to increase amount of listeners on one of their struggling radio stations. They are looking for a historian who has broadcasting skills that can make the news segments more interesting.

A podcast sample including a decription and analysis of a American Revolution event relating it to a current event. Reoccurring themes and philosophies must be discussed within the analysis piece.

At this point, you have improved and established your skills as an historian. You know the ins and outs of the American Revolution regarding major events, important people, main themes, philosophies, and results of the time period. However you are a historian that is struggling to make ends meet and you just simply want to make a name for yourself. In order to get noticed, you need to show the world and most importantly yourself how much you have improved as an history scholar. You are scanning newspapers, online sources, looking for any job openings for a historian specializing in U.S. History, specifically the American Revolution time period.
Task
One morning, you rolled out of bed and went into your kitchen and turned on the T.V. onto CBS "This Morning" show like you always do. As you were poring your coffee a commercial came on. This commersial was not an everyday advertisement, it was an advertisement for a contest that CBS was holding. You stop in mid-pour and listen. CBS is in dire need to spice up one of their radio station's news segments. They are loosing listeners profusely. The company is looking for a historian to be featured on that station monthly, where he or she will explain a current event and connect it to American Revolution history during a news segment. CBS is holding a national contest, where potential candidates will send in sample podcasts of their best work into the CBS Las Angeles head quarters. If the candidate's sample grabs the attention of the CBS board of directors then he or she will receive an interview, where CBS will fly he or she out to Las Angeles for free. There the chosen candidates will present their work and their unique individual personalities to try to stand out and win over the directors.
Conclusion
You have gone through the process of the contest and proved to the board of directors that not only are you a great historian, but you have a fun unique personality that would be perfect to spice up their radio station. You have proven yourself as a history scholar and established your self as a trusted historian in society. Now that the contest is over, you can continue uncovering history and relating it to what is happening around you. You can understand political movements, philosophies, and polices better, because you understand that the backgrounds, experiences, and underlying themes effects all of those.
